Why Accerta Became a B Corp

When we first pursued B Corp certification in 2017, it wasn’t just about meeting a standard—it was about aligning our operations with a global movement that prioritizes social responsibility, transparency, and sustainability.

As a company managing supplementary healthcare benefits for governments and social service agencies, we recognized the importance of balancing business success with positive social and environmental impact. Becoming a B Corp allowed us to formalize our commitment to these principles, ensuring that every decision we make serves the greater good.

Our Journey of Continuous Improvement

One of the defining aspects of being a B Corp is the expectation of ongoing progress. Every three years, certified companies undergo a rigorous reassessment to maintain their status and confirm their B Impact Assessment (BIA) score.

Accerta has consistently raised the bar at each recertification. In 2021 and 2022, we were recognized as a “Best for the World” B Corp, ranking in the top 5% globally for corporate governance. This recognition highlighted our commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical business practices.

Fast forward to 2025, and we’ve once again improved our score, demonstrating real progress across key impact areas:

Governance – Strengthening our policies, compliance measures, and ethical standards.
Workers – Enhancing employee benefits, engagement, and workplace inclusivity.
Community – Expanding partnerships and investing in The Accerta Healthcare Access Foundation Grant, which supports underserved communities.
Environment – Doubling down on waste reduction and emissions-cutting initiatives to reach our net-zero target by 2030.

Why This Matters

Being a B Corp isn’t just about earning a certification—it’s about embracing a responsibility to drive positive change. Our government partners, healthcare practitioners, and the communities we serve rely on us to deliver ethical, efficient, and people-centred services. By holding ourselves accountable through the B Impact Assessment, we ensure that our business model remains rooted in integrity, innovation, and impact.

Looking Ahead

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we know there’s always more work to do. Our 2025 B Corp recertification is not the finish line—it’s another milestone in our ongoing journey to build a better future for all Canadians.

To our employees, partners, and the communities we serve: thank you for being part of this mission. Together, we’re proving that businesses can be a force for good.
